Precronference 1: Perinatal Substance Use: Addressing Myths and Identifying Strategies for Support
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders: The Impact of Alcohol-Exposed Pregnancies Speaker: Amy Hendricks, B.S. This interactive session will help participants understand the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on the developing fetal brain, characteristics, and prevalence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD), as well as recognizing the role we all play in preventing alcohol exposed pregnancies and FASD.
Perinatal Substance Use and What to Say Speaker: Melissa Godwin This presentation will provide a brief overview of perinatal substance use and what to say. It will include a brief overview of THC, Opioids and Stimulants, screening and brief intervention, and connecting to treatment.

- Participants will understand the elements of the AWHONN Respectful Maternity Care Toolkit and Framework.
- Participants will learn to evaluate environments of care in order to improve barriers to respectful care environments, inclusive work cultures, and equitable outcomes.
- Participants will be challenged to think differently about what Respectful Care means to each individual.
